This ammonite fossil pendant is handcrafted from 14K/20 gold filled wire, a polished, split half of an ammonite fossil, and a natural ammolite freeform gem. Please note, only the front, inside part of the fossil is polished. The back, external part of the fossil is the original fossil surface. Ammonites were ancient sea creatures, similar to today’s chambered nautilus, that fossilized back in the time of the dinosaurs. Ammolite is the fossilized shell of this creature and is a rare, organic gemstone. It wears well, does not tarnish, and has the same allergy reactions (or non-reactions) as 14K gold.
