This paua pendant is handcrafted from 14K/20 gold filled wire and a natural, tumbled piece of freeform paua shell. Paua is a species of Abalone found off the coast of New Zealand. 14K/20 gold filled wire is basically a tube of 14K gold with a jeweler’s wire down the center for flexibility. It wears well, does not tarnish, and has the same allergy reactions (or non-reactions) as 14K gold. These paua pendants are fun! They go with everything, from jeans to dress-up. I have not found a color I can’t wear mine with, but you will notice different colors in them depending on the color you are wearing. Bright blues and bright greens especially pop out the vibrant colors of the paua shell. Put it against a pink and you will all of a sudden see pinks you didn’t even realize were present in the shell. They have a lot more shine in real life than they do in the pictures. Paua jewelry makes a great gift. It’s considered good luck, it fits well with both casual and dressy attire, and gets lots of compliments. It is appropriate for any age, with the smaller ones being better for young girls.
