This paua pendant is handcrafted from 14K/20 gold filled wire and a natural, tumbled piece of freeform paua shell.
Where my other paua pendants are like super high gloss paint, this one is semi-gloss. As the light hits it, you will see it has shine, but the over all impression is much more of a matte finish than the others.
Paua is a species of Abalone found off the coast of New Zealand.
14K/20 gold filled wire is basically a tube of 14K gold with a jeweler’s wire down the center for flexibility. It wears well, does not tarnish, and has the same allergy reactions (or non-reactions) as 14K gold.
These paua pendants are fun! They go with everything, from jeans to dress-up. I have not found a color I can’t wear mine with, but you will notice different colors in them depending on the color you are wearing. Bright blues and bright greens especially pop out the vibrant colors of the paua shell. Put it against a pink and you will all of a sudden see pinks you didn’t even realize were present in the shell.
Paua jewelry makes a great gift. It’s considered good luck, it fits well with both casual and dressy attire, and gets lots of compliments. It is appropriate for any age, with the smaller ones being better for young girls. It looks great on a chain, neck wire, rubber cord, or leather cord.
Each of my paua piece pendants are "one-of-a-kind" and you are selecting the actual one you will be receiving. The chain is not included, but I do have a selection of chains if you need one.
